When it comes to dance covers, the idol group do not need any introduction as they have been tagged the best by many fans, both theirs and others. Their dance covers are refreshingly cool, artistic, detailed, and all-around exciting to watch. They always take the essential elements of the original version, add their own unique individuality to it, and deliver it so well, that you might want to question if this is truly a dance cover performance. With new releases every now and then, here are our top 5 favorite dance covers from the talented group.
1. ItheK’s cover dance medley
The level of skill displayed in this 4 minutes clip is so unmatched. BAE173 showed various layers of their outstanding performance skills. From their facial expressions to their sharp, clean, and precise movements, this might have been a dance cover but they made the performances their own, adding their own individuality to the performances. Each song might have been performed for a couple of seconds but that was enough to make one of the best (if not the best) cover performances for them.
2. aespa’s ‘SAVAGE’
Not the full group but just some of its members. Charismatic, exciting, refreshing, awesome, sexy, and the best. These are some of the words we will use to describe this cover performance and some that many viewers would also agree on. We can all acknowledge that the BAE173 group is filled with talented dancers and as such, that is why their performances are always one of a kind. However, whenever they perform girl group songs, either as individuals or together, they seem to go the extra mile and always deliver accordingly. They might be one of the only groups who do not shy away from fully immersing themselves in these kinds of performances and also go a step further by infusing their own expressive styles into them. These traits are what is unique to them both as individuals and the whole group. This is why, when it comes to performances, BAE173 ranks very high in our books.
3. “K-Pop School Look History”
This felt like copy and paste as they perfectly embodied not just the dance moves of the various groups covered here but also their expressions too. Besides how beautifully in sync the members were in the various performances, we also are stunned by how incredible they looked in these school outfits. Kudos to the idols and the editing team of this video, despite it being less than 1 minute, each performance felt like a music video. Clearly, a lot of hard work was put into this, especially by the BAE173 members who had to carry on the same energy and expressions with both switches. And they did that seamlessly well. Professionals.
4. NCT U’s ‘The 7th Sense’
From start to finish, this can be only described as “perfection”. The NCT members have a Rolodex of songs filled with intensely difficult performances, so difficult that it is often hard for another group to display the same level of skill they do with a cover of their songs. While the original performance of this song by the group NCT still remains the best, BAE173’s cover comes in a very close second as they absolutely ate this! From the perfectly timed movement at the intro that made them look like one body to the mystifying aura exuded, the detailed to perfection choreography, and their captivating facial expressions. If this were to be performed in front of a crowd, it would be crickets from the audience as they would all be too stunned to scream or shout.
5. BTS’ ‘I Need You’
We are all the lady in red (at 1:59 minutes) as that is the only expression we can emote while watching this performance. A mix of admiration and wonder, with their live vocals and incredible dance moves, BAE173 delivered an amazing performance of this song on this stage. Once again, completely embodying the original version, with their performance, they left notes of familiarity and created nostalgic moments as many fans of BTS would also enjoy this performance. P.S, the way they turned around at the end with so much swagger knowing fully well that they delivered was so cool. Which of these dance covers is your favorite?
