RoWoon, who is the most involved in the acting scene, debuted alongside the SF9 members in a web drama “Click Your Heart” in 2016, and has now become an in-demand actor with a good number of lead roles in his name. Chani is a theatrical force to be reckoned with as well, as he has been starring in dramas since 2011, and he never fails to deliver every single time. DaWon might be the number one jokester in the group, but he plays wholesome and deep characters effortlessly (who can forget his beautiful acting in “Doom At Your Service”) YoungBin stars in the 2022 web drama “Bubble Up” as a main lead, and ZuHo is just as active too with several dramas including “Heartbeat Broadcasting Accident” and most recently, his lead role in the upcoming drama “Ongoing Loved One”. JaeYoon and InSeong also have acting experience. Then there’s HwiYoung, whose skills range from extremely talented rapper and songwriter, to visual (we could say that’s a talent, right?) and of course, top tier actor. Here, we’ll break down HwiYoung’s numerous roles as an actor, explain why fans can’t get enough of him every time he’s on screen, and why he’s definitely climbing higher and higher up the ladder in the acting industry. While HwiYoung had a supporting role in the Naver TV web drama “Click Your Heart” in 2016, fast forward four years later, and HwiYoung levels up to bagging guest roles. HwiYoung plays himself in the 2020 drama, “Was It Love?” along with all his teammates except Chani. FANTASYs were absolutely ecstatic to see them in their element, and even more so because they were in their element in a drama. 2020 was finally HwiYoung’s year, as he graduated from guest roles and supporting roles to playing the main lead. The drama “DokGo Bin Is Updating”, takes an interesting twist and is quite different from most web dramas because HwiYoung’s character, DokGo Bin, is an AI robot. The comedic elements in the drama are amazing as well, and the cherry on top, HwiYoung’s fellow male lead is Ha DeokHo, played by fellow teammate and SF9 hyung, InSeong. In the same year, HwiYoung moves on to play the main lead once more, proving to the industry that he is a talent to keep. His character Yoon Gun in the web drama"The Mermaid Prince: The Beginning" is quite befitting of the very apt title. Yoon Gun is a hard on the outside, caring and romantic on the inside type student in a high school setting. The drama contains mystery elements, relationship plot twists, cute couple chemistry, and most of all, ASTRO’s MoonBin. May your AROHA heart rejoice. Every couple and storyline gets adequate screentime, so you don’t have to worry about not seeing enough of your faves, HwiYoung and MoonBin in this case. HwiYoung sure is known to be a popular web drama actor, but the buzz was especially intense for “Replay: The Moment”. This was a coming-of-age drama, where high schoolers graduate and explore various career and relationship possibilities. HwiYoung’s character, Lee JiHoon, is friends with Yoo HaYoung, played by (G)I-DLE’s MiYeon, until he realizes he sees her as more than a friend, though her heart eventually lay somewhere else. His character was the definition of that sweet, attentive friend who notices the barely visible splashes of ramyeon soup on your shirt and subtly helps you wipe it off. Fans were desperately rooting for a Ji-Young relationship, but the creators of the drama had other plans. If you were one of the many fans that internally and externally screamed when you saw the cast of the KBS2 drama “Imitation”, we totally understand you. It was a star studded cast after all, with U-KISS’s Jun (Lee JunYoung) and ATEEZ’s YunHo as the main leads, then ATEEZ’s SeongHwa, San and JongHo, SF9’s HwiYoung, and more as supporting roles. SF9’s Chani then played a special character. It was bound to break the internet and raise fans anticipations, and we’re sure you weren’t disappointed. In this idol-based drama, HwiYoung plays Kang LeeHyun, a member of the fictional project group SHAX. His character is an introvert who’d rather spend his time creating new tunes and beats in the studio than socialize. Of course, he doesn’t stay aloof for long when RiA, member of fictional project group Tea Party, enters the picture. He also serves as a mental support system for the group, though his efforts were mostly overt. It was amazing to watch his character open up and find that even making music could be more fun when the right person is involved. Finally, but certainly not the last of his on screen works, the OTT drama “Miracle”. Fans had been anticipating its release since the cast was confirmed in 2021. HwiYoung would once again star with his teammate Chani, and the duo were granted lead spots alongside Kang MinAh. The drama instantly became a fan favourite. HwiYoung must’ve been extremely content playing Min SiWoo, because he got to be the passionate music creator that he is in real life. In this drama, he also plays a member of a boy group called N/S, and is striving to become a better singer than world famous Louis, played by Chani. Considering the drama is yet to be complete, this is your chance to hop on the SiWoo train and follow every bit of his inspiring story. HwiYoung is no stranger to the set, and his portfolio is far from empty. As he continues to grow in both his idol career and acting career, continuously challenging himself with new, fresh roles every year, it’s safe to say we will be seeing a lot more of him on our TV, laptop or phone screens moving forward.
