PIXY recently made their comeback with the mini-album “Temptation”, which was received with much love and attention from fans all over the world. Featuring a number of genres and sonic experiments, this mini-album truly showcased the unlimited potential and creative genius of PIXY. Kpopmap had the incredible opportunity of interviewing PIXY to dig deeper into the musical recesses of their universe. WINXY, make sure to stay tuned until the very end for a special message from PIXY! First of all, congratulations on all the love, support, and success that your latest mini-album “Temptation” is getting from fans all over the world! What was your biggest challenge while working on this album? Thank you for congratulating us! As you know, our dances are quite dynamic here so we think it was physically challenging to prepare for the album. PIXY Your latest mini-album “Temptation” is dark and dreamy, whimsical, and mysterious at the same time. What is your favourite aspect of this comeback? We liked that we could express our worldview with our dance! We also liked that all of our songs in this album all have different vibes including our double title songs ‘Bewitched’ and ‘Addicted’. PIXY Like you said, “Temptation” features two title tracks: ‘Addicted’ and ‘Bewitched’. Why did you choose these two songs as the title tracks and what do you think is the killing point of each one? We thought that the two songs show the themes of our album well. We also think they can show PIXY’s style with various charms. Like the titles of both songs, we believe that the song’s addicting vibe and performance are the killing points! PIXY Besides the chosen title tracks, were there any other songs that caught your attention as possible candidates for the title track? We actually had a good response for ‘Moonlight’ but we thought the chosen two title songs better represented the album themes. PIXY The choreography for “Addicted” is greatly impactful and intense, full of energy and power. What did you focus on while you were working on the choreography? We think we focused a lot on controlling our strength and emotional expression! Our choreography was quite powerful and dynamic but we thought that if we just used full strength it would lack the cool suave and the focus, so we actually had to control our strength well! Also, our choreography describes our universe really well so we thought our expression and body language should reflect such emotions! PIXY When you’re monitoring your performance, what do each of you look out for? Is there anything you particularly focus on while on stage? I look for and find importance in the continuous focus so you can be immersed in the music from start to finish! Ella I think it’s maintaining the focus! If our focus during the song or dance is shaken, I feel like those watching our performance also cannot fully focus! Lola It is how we express music! SatByeol I often check if our performance captivated people’s attention till the end! To achieve this , the expression, precision and control of our strength are important! Dia I think teamwork would be the most important because we need teamwork to create the synergy of our choreography. Sua I think performance is important but also the expression is very important as well. DaJeong Was there anything you learned from your fellow members while you were preparing for this comeback? We worked tirelessly for this album, but we collectively learned that for a good, tight comeback - it’s not just about not giving up and continuous practice - but also the determination to stick to the end is very important. PIXY Can you tell us about any fun behind-the-scenes episodes that happened while you were working on this album? So originally the song ‘Addicted’ did not have an element of swing but while working on the song - right before the recording- we changed the song to have a more swing vibe. After the change, it seems like the song became more sophisticated and fun! PIXY The concept of PIXY is based on the very essence of duality. Which member do you think represents that duality the most in real life? We think it would be SatByeol! She is actually very calm and cute like a baby. But when she is rapping or on stage, she is very charismatic. She really has two very different yet attractive charms to her! PIXY In such a short time, PIXY has explored a myriad range of genres and some very interesting visual themes. What kind of sound or concept do you want to try in the next chapter of your music? We want to try out and challenge ourselves to anything. We want to broaden our music spectrum and through that, show PIXY’s unique music styles and colors. PIXY What kind of genre do you think would best suit the member next to you? I wanna hear rap that really highlights Lola’s unique style so it would be hip-hop. Ella (about Lola) Hip-hop song that can awaken SatByeol’s hidden rap instincts! Lola (about SatByeol) Her vocals actually complement the guitar very well so it would be acoustic music! SatByeol (about Dia) Sua’s positive and upbeat energy will make a pop dance song & performance very refreshing - just by listening to it , I bet it will spread the ‘happy virus’! Dia (about Sua) DaJeong’s refreshing and lively image will go well with a dance song! Sua (about DaJeong) Her vocal tone actually suits ballad very well , so it would be a ballad song! DaJeong (about Ella) How do you think PIXY has grown with this album? What more can we anticipate from PIXY in the future? This album helped us try new musical genres which helped us grow as musicians. We hope to continue doing various great performances, so we hope people can look forward to them! PIXY Finally, do you have any hobbies, interests, or activities that you have been “Addicted” to lately? If so, please share them with WINXY! Since we are doing a lot of things these days, we feel like it’s important to recharge your energy. So we all think it would be …. Sleeping!! PIXY As promised, here’s a very special message PIXY had for WINXY all over the world!
