There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Shine is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from India and is a fan of ASTRO and her bias is Cha EunWoo. She is a Chap (a Cha EunWoo stan). Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hi, I am Shine from India. I am a big fan of Cha EunWoo from ASTRO. How and when did you enter the fandom? Well, I have been watching K-Dramas since 2012, but I was not into K-Pop, then in 2018, I watched “My ID is Gangnam Beauty” & I became fan of Cha EunWoo, then I searched about him & in Jan 2019, I started liking ASTRO as well. What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? Well, one of the biggest reasons is Cha EunWoo himself. I love him & support all his ventures. Additionally, all ASTRO members are talented & funny. Their songs are great & I can relate with their music. Who caught your attention at first and why? Cha EunWoo. Like I said I used to stay away from K-Pop. I have watched dramas of other idols too before watching EunWoo’s drama but none of them made me search about them. After finishing, “My ID is Gangnam Beauty”, I checked behind the scenes & I found EunWoo so adorable, charismatic & funny that I wanted to know more about him. I loved his personality, his acting & the more I got to know him, the more I started respecting him. The first time I watched “My ID is Gangnam Beauty”, I didn’t check about EunWoo but I don’t know why I feel like watching the drama again & the second time, I did search for him. Who is your bias, and why? Well, I like all members of ASTRO as they have different personalities but complement each other so well but my bias is Cha EunWoo. First of all, he introduced me to the group & second, he is so talented, amazing & and inspiration. As we all know, he is an all-rounder, from singing to playing an instrument to acting to dancing to playing sports to studying well, he gives his 500%. Some say he is God’s favourite, but for me, he is simply God’s one of the most hardworking guys. He has achieved so much because he never gives up & continues to work hard. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? Title Track - ‘All Night’, ‘Always You’ & ‘After Midnight’ Cha EunWoo’s OST - ‘Love So Fine’, ‘Don’t Cry My Love’, ‘Together’, ‘Please Remember’, ‘Rainbow Falling’ (I love all. Like I said, I am into sift songs & ballads. All his OSTs are to my taste B-Side - I love ASTRO’s ‘First Love’, ‘Because It’s You’ & ‘Role Play’. I am into soft songs & ballads so I loved 1st two songs because of that. As for ‘Role Play’, I love EunWoo’s whispering voice. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? This one is difficult because there are so many things I want to share, but I will try. Fancams - Cha EunWoo’s ‘Blue Flame’ and ‘One’: Individual Content, “EunWoo Like”: Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? I love these two “ASTRO Play”. All were super chaotic. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? There are many songs I love but nowadays, I am into Cha EunWoo’s ’ Don’t Cry My Love’ OST for “Under The Oal Tree” OST & I love this paragraph. “Don’t cry, my love I will burn if it means that you’ll glow Even a fleeting moment, will last in my heart for eternity, my love Closing your eyes tight When you call me I will always be there for you Believe me, Don’t cry, my love Here I’ll be.” Are there any words from the members you would like to share? I remember last year in one of his interviews, Cha EunWoo said - “There are times when I want to collapse or get hurt with what others say but as time passes, you will get heal so I even I want to break down, I don’t put myself down easily”. I guess we all can relate to these words at some point in our time. What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? EunWoo inspires me to work hard to fulfill my goals. I actually took a certification course after I saw him doing his job & studies together. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? Just being selflessly happy for my bias. Meeting a few amazing people online. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)? Not just other fandoms, but sometimes within the fandom too, I feel people think that Cha EunWoo is popular or he is some’s biased because of his beauty but that’s not the case. I & many of my moots stan him because he is talented, kind, down to earth, have amazing personality & so hard-working. I hope people start seeing what a true gem EunWoo is. Can you recommend dramas or movies starring your favorite actor for new fans? “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty” is close to my heart as it made me Cha EunWoo’s fan. I love “Rookie historian Goo Hae Ryung” too because EunWoo’s character was so cute different & innocent. I loved how he supported the female lead, her ambition as well as his own dreams there (most underrated EunWoo’s drama). As for “True Beauty”, I don’t think I need to elaborate a lot on that. All EunWoo dramas are a must-watch. Do you have an all-time favorite scene? Can you describe it or share a video? “My ID is Gangnam Beauty” - I know this is not a lot but this was the scene that made me fall in love with him. He making an entry, kicking the senior. “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung” - I love Clerk Yi & Hae Ryung going to market to get some news but Clerk Yi spoils everything because he is too honest & naive. I can’t find the clip. Another scene that I love is this one, love & mutual respect. “True Beauty” - Lee SuHo confronting his dad in the hospital. You can see a range of emotions on EunWoo’s face. This makes me feel sad for Lee SuHo. What genre do you want your favorite actor to appear in? What’s the reason? Thriller/Mystery or Fantasy. I want to see Cha EunWoo as a psychopath or antagonist role. I think he can pull it off. He will be good in action scenes too. What are the actors you would like your favorite actor to act with? What’s the reason? There are so many sunbaes I want EunWoo to work with so I can’t think of one. I hope he gets chance to work with veteran actors as it will help him in learning & growing more.
