There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Pramesti is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Indonesia and is a fan of SF9 and more particularly of HwiYoung! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? I’m Pramesti, 20 years old. I’m from Indonesia. I’m a sophomore at a university. How and when did you enter the fandom? I entered the fandom in July 2021 after watching their MV with the title ‘Tear Drop’ as a comeback song of the 9th mini-album “Turn Over”. Meanwhile, I have been known about SF9 before. Because I like Korean Drama, I know them as individuals. Like Chani, RoWoon, HwiYoung, and DaWon. But this MV made me fall in love and want to know more about them. What are the reasons why you love your favourite group? I love them because they are so talented. They have own senses, their mature visuals and their catchy songs make them different from other K-Pop groups. They are masterpieces of Idol - Actors. Their interaction with fans is very humble, always sharing stories and listening to Fantasy. So that I feel comfortable like one family. Who caught your attention at first and why? InSeong, Yoo TaeYang, and HwiYoung. At the MV, InSeong appears with some deep emotions with his visuals and voice. Yoo TaeYang has a unique visual and sexy sense of his dance. For HwiYoung, I like his part and when he appeared in “Imitation” has caught my intention very much. Who is your bias, and why? HwiYoung. He is a good rapper, songwriter, actor, and has a pretty smile. He looks mature, tsundere, but has a warm heart and a nice personality. He is the best counsellor, his life advice are deep and meaningful. As the maknae, he also never gives up and always gives the best for his brothers. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? For the title track, I recommend ‘Trauma’, ‘Tear Drop, ‘Good Guy’, ‘Enough’, ‘Now or Never’, and ‘Easy Love’. For a B-side track, ‘Shh’, ‘Dance with Us’, ‘Dear Fantasy’, ‘Lullu lalla’, ‘Hey hi bye’, ‘Love Again’ and ‘Never say goodbye’. I think all of their songs are recommended. Can you recommend a fancam, V-Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? I recommend HwiYoung’s song on SoundCloud with the account name is 0 (zero). All of his songs have deep meanings and are pleasant to hear.
Also, I recommend his performance of “Full Dash” in “KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR”. Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? I recommend their cover song are ‘9 to 5’ in “Sugar Man 3”, ‘Move’ by TaeMin, and ‘Love Shot’ by EXO. Can you share with us one of your favourite lyrics? “You who became the light in the dark night sky I’m going to tell that I’m really thankful, I’m going to run and hug you. Even though I get tired and faint, my heart Will never change It will protect you, You’re the only one I’ve needed” (Beautiful Light) Are there any words from the members you would like to share? It’s from HwiYoung. HwiYoung’s sincere advice to those who are struggling, said “Of course, I struggle too. But you gotta keep trying & live your life every day. Do something fun to you & enjoy what you like, moderately. Don’t worry! All will be well with you. The one who never give up always wins.” And advice to those who get depressed, he said “In my case, I just bear it because time is so precious. and also because I know that I will be ok as time passes. Later, when my life on this earth is over, I would look back on my life & clearly see how I have spent my time throughout my entire life. If I haven’t done so many things I should have done because I was upset or depressed, I would not like it at all. So, these days, I’m trying to be positive as the best I can, no matter what.” What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? From them, I learned to know and love myself better. Meaning of life by continuing to pursue dreams and solve problems well. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? My favourite is while I can share the feeling with FANTASY around the world. I get new friends and new family because of SF9. It’s wonderful, something that I never had before. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)? I don’t know if this is meant or not. I just want to say, please take a look at SF9 as a group too. Not only to famous members like RoWoon and Chani, but other members are also good and talented too. As a group, they have a great song and dance. SF9 deserve to get more appreciation and intention. You can also add a message to your bias or show it on a message scrapbook.
