Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hi, I’m admin J and I’m chart admin from MONSTA X fanbase “Monsta X Worldwide” and I live in Europe. How and when did you enter the fandom? I joined the MONBEBE fandom over 7 years ago, even before the official debut of MONSTA X. Before getting to know MONSTA X, I was a fan of really heavy music and then I would never imagine that there would be K-Pop in my life soon. By accident, I found one episode of the survival show “No Mercy” where MONSTA X had its beginnings and I stayed with them for longer. What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? MONSTA X’s are authentic in everything they do. I was fascinated above all by their great passion for music, striving for their own goals and achieving them at every step, and most of all by music. Their talent is indescribable, they can sing, rap, dance, play instruments, create and produce their own music, and by the way they are still humble people for all those years. Who caught your attention at first and why? The first person to hit my heart was JooHeon (JooHoney). He was the trigger, that when I was watching their survival show “No mercy”, I stayed to watch it until the end and as you can see it made me stay another 7 years. His charisma and passion for music are incredibly amazing. Who is your bias, and why? It’s hard to have one bias in MONSTA X, really. of course, I have stayed with JooHeon for these 7 years and still choose him as the only one, but that doesn’t change the fact that I have 6 biases in MONSTA X. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? For title track I would recommend their current comeback title track ‘Love’. It’s amazing. MONSTA X’s are known for their B-sides being amazing. do you know why they are amazing? Because they are made by MONSTA X. It’s hard to pick one B-side when there are so many. But I would show ‘Stand Up’. I would like to show new fans that even MONSTA X are known for heavy sound and heavy choreography - they also have this soft side. And ‘Stand Up’ is just such a total opposite - sweet, with charming choreography. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? These are very hard questions, because it’s hard to choose one, MONSTA X are so special that each of their videos is something that I would show to new fans. I would definitely recommend MONSTA X on Vacation so that people can see the guys from the human side, where they spend time together and fool around in each other’s company. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “I love you always So in love with yourself 내게 사랑을 알려준 네게 정말 고마워” - ‘By My Side’ What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? If it weren’t for MONSTA X, I don’t know what kind of person I would be at this point. Looking at my past, I made many mistakes, I got lost in my life many times. MONSTA X taught me to get off my knees and move forward with double force. They helped me change as a human being, for the better. I still have many flaws, but they always say not to be too harsh to myself.So every day I learn how to be a better version of myself and love myself as I am despite my stumbles and falls. My life just changed for the better thanks to them. I have met many great people who share my passion for their music thanks to them and I get up every day with a huge smile on my face. Are there any words from the members you would like to share? “Be happy, stay happy” - Lee JooHeon. What type of concept do you prefer: cute, dark, sexy, etc? I prefer sexy concept. What is your best souvenir with your favorite group until now? Being recognized by JooHeon after a while. Can you recommend words that your bias like to hear to new fans who don’t know yet about it? “You are handsome”. Can you describe your bias in only one word? All-round. For me, my bias is … a person who makes me want to get up from bed and fight for a better tomorrow. Can you recommend a cute or funny video (30s)/gif of your bias to our readers? This one. What’s your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias? Another title track from him. What is a random fact that you think people don’t know about them? JooHeon role model is Michael Jackson. Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why. I would like to see JooHeon in “Show Me The Money” but on this other side as one of judges. If you could spend the day with them, what would you want to do together? Eat mandu for sure. Name 1 quality in your bias that you wish you had. Passion. If your bias were to collab with another idol, who do you think would be best? JooHeon would be perfect combination in collab with BTS’s Suga. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)? Many people see MONSTA X as intimidating. This term is used very often by people outside of the fandom. The fact that Monsta x has a very strong concept, strong rap, strong sound and their concept is darker - they are just funny, wonderful, humble and super loving people outside the stage.
