There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Admin H of the EXO fanbase called EXO-L YouTube Team, is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of EXO, and particularly of Chen and D.O. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hi, I am Admin H. I am from Colombia and I’ve been an EXO-L since 2012. How and when did you enter the fandom? I was watching a Girls’ Generation MV, the one that ChanYeol was in. I, then, learned that SM had debuted a new boy group. I decided to check them out and never looked back. What are the reasons why you love your favorite artist? They’re talented and I love their vocals so much! There are so many vocal tones, I can tell each voice apart so easily. But even though the voices are so different, they blend so well together and their harmonies are amongst the best. Who caught your attention at first and why? Kai. His presence on the music videos and on stage caught my attention. He has been an amazing performer since his debut so it is always easy to get lost in the way he moves. Who is your bias, and why? Chen and D.O. are my biases. I don’t know exactly the reason why, since in all my years as an EXO-L I think all the members have been my bias at some point. They are all extremely talented and have such nice personalities that is hard to pick. Which song by them caught your attention at first and why? ‘Miracles in December’. As a person who loves ballads, that song was all I needed at that particular time. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? For title track, I choose “Tempo”. For B-side track, I recommend “Damage”. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? Chen’s ‘Heart4U’ and D.O.’s cover of ‘Boyfriend’ by Justin Bieber. Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? The cover of ‘Sabor a Mí’ and their cover of ‘Open Arms’. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “Now you’re not alone. Don’t feel lonely anymore, morning will come again.” - ‘Lights Out’ Are there any quotes by your favourite artist that you would like to share? “We can’t help but be human and get hurt.” What kind of influence has your favourite artist had on your daily life? Opening a fanbase for EXO made me realise that I’m good at so many things. I found new hobbies and discovered I had many talents because of them. EXO has really helped me to realise my potential. For you, what is your bias’ best stage outfits until now? Please share a picture or fan cam. My favorite stage outfits are definitely from ‘Obsession’ era. I love the use of different colors and leather for X-EXO and how for EXO they used different textures in each of the outfits to make them interesting. The contrast between X-EXO and EXO is perfect. What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being happy and healthy? My biggest dream for EXO is for them to be together as nine members on stage. As much as I love their solo activities I think they shine the brightest when they are all together. The world needs an EXO OT9 album and concert. If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign? A concert, always. It is my dream to see them live so If I ever get the chance I would definitely go no matter what. Describe them in 5 words. Talented, inspiring, truthful, loving, unique. Would you like to see your bias group in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do? I would love to see EXO in any kind of variety show. The fact that in their 10 years of career we have few to almost none of them is unacceptable. Right now I don’t have anything specific in mind, but I’m sure that no matter what you make them do, they will make me laugh or cry. They are fun, competitive, and themselves, in general, them being together is a great combination for variety shows. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? Through EXO, I’ve met so many new people from all over the world. I made new friends when I became an admin for EYTT (EXO YouTube Team). Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite artist from other fans (non-fans)? “They can’t sing, dance or rap.” Comments such as these are easily thrown around as fact, when they couldn’t be further away from the truth.
