This series is celebrating all of the different friendships that exist in K-Pop. We will look at some of the moments when K-Pop idols showed off their close friendships with one another and other entertainment industry members. SHINee’s Key and Girls’ Generation’s TaeYeon started off the series for us, followed by ASTRO’s Cha EunWoo, SEVENTEEN’s MinGyu, and the 97 liners, PENTAGON’s Kino and WOODZ, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, GOT7’s BamBam, and the Thai line, and Jeon SoMi and the TWICE members. This month, readers voted for Park HyungSik, BTS’ V, and the rest of the Wooga Fam in our monthly poll (at the end of the article) to be featured in this month’s article. If you are a new K-Pop fan you might not know how their friendship started. Let’s take a look back at their friendship. Park HyungSik and BTS’ V are known for their close brotherhood and friendship. Their friendship is actually part of a larger circle called the Wooga Fam including Park SeoJun, Choi WooShik, and Peakboy. You may be wondering how the members of this friendship group met considering how different their lines of work are as Korean music artists and actors. Park SeoJun, Park HyungSik, and V all became close during the filming of the 2016 K-Drama “Hwarang”. That was the birth of Wooga Fam. Park SeoJun and Choi WooShik were already close friends from their time acting in the 2012 K-Drama “Family”. As a result, Choi WooShik naturally joined the group. Peakboy also later became a member of the group. Even though these are some of the busiest stars in Korea, they always make time to meet with each other. What’s even more touching is that despite their busy schedules, they don’t only meet during their free time but also try to take part in each other’s promotions and projects. For example, BTS’ V and Park SeoJun have sent Park HyungSik a coffee truck on the set of his drama. V also sent Park SeoJun a coffee truck during his filming for the 2018 K-Drama “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?” Choi WooShik has also sent Park SeoJun a coffee truck on the set of “Itaewon Class”. V also took part in the OST for Park SeoJun’s drama “Itaewon Class”. Hong SeokCheon who also appeared in the drama shared that Park SeoJun had asked the director if he should ask V to sing for the OST. Considering how successful BTS is, the cast and crew were shocked that it would be possible. Wooga Fam has also promoted BTS’ comebacks by posting them on his social media and posted a photo of V from the music video ‘ON’ captioned “You surprise me more and more each time.” Park HyungSik and Choi WooShik also posted the same photo saying, “It’s just art now,” and “sexy… too much to handle…” respectively. The members of Wooga Fam also all celebrated Choi WooShik’s victory at the Academy Awards when his movie “Parasite” won several awards by posting it on their Instagrams.
A post shared by 박서준 (@bn_sj2013) V visited Park SeoJun and Choi WooShik on the set of their film “The Divine Fury” too. More recently, V participated in the OST for Choi WooShik’s 2021 K-Drama “Our Beloved Summer”. Peakboy has even featured on Choi WooShik’s song ‘Poom’ with him. Even though they are all so successful, they make sure to root for and support one another. They are also great at celebrating each others’ successes. Park HyungSik recently did an interview with a Japanese magazine called Mokkan Henshu and was asked how he feels when he sees his friends who are loved worldwide. He answered that he still can’t believe it. They receive awards at famous American award shows and it is shocking for him to see foreign audiences sing along in Korean. However, to him BTS’ V is still his cute younger brother. When they meet up, they joke around and he still hasn’t changed from the time they first met. He is a professional when it comes to working but most of the time he is an ordinary boy. In fact, Park HyungSik has even had the honor of handing his friend V an award at last year’s TMA 2021 Awards when BTS won Artist of the Year. This Wooga Fam has done a lot more for each other than what was mentioned in this article but it is all heartwarming to see. You can get a feel for the group’s bromantic dynamic in this video. What do you think of these besties? Isn’t their friendship just adorable? Are there any other K-Pop idol friendships that you would like to see featured in this series? Let us know in the comments. Important notice: the vote only decides who will be covered in the next article. Everyone in the poll will be covered in the series eventually. Suggestions will also be gradually added each month.
