DKB is a rookie group consisting of nine remarkably talented members: GK, E-Chan, Yuku, HeeChan, Lune, JunSeo, Harry June, Teo, and D1 are signed with Brave Entertainment. In 2019, with various intriguing teasers being released about the new wonder group, many K-Pop lovers’ piqued interest and were anticipating their debut. The group formally debuted in February 2020 with the EP “Youth”. The EP with the lead single ‘Sorry Mama’ received critical acclamation and praises from the audience, perfectly living up to the built-up expectation about the group who had been projected to be one of the skillfully diverse rookie groups in K-Pop.
With a thrilling performance of all the lines, a melodious vocal line whose voices tear through the loud beat and serenade our ears with blissful sounds, the fierce and energetic rap line that gives us no room to breathe as we watch with our mouths ajar while they deliver their outstanding rap verses, and the performance that gives nothing but chills and goosebumps, just like viewers we are forced to ask, “Is this really a debut?”,“Are they really rookies?”
Following the incredible and duly received success of their debut EP which peaked at number 41 on the Gaon Music Charts, a notable achievement for a rookie group, they released their second EP a couple of months later titled “Love” and with the lead single ‘Still’ they showed another side of their musicality, proving they can handle any theme or concept. This song is more slowed down than their debut title single but it doesn’t lose the dynamic and unique performance style we have begun to expect from the members of the group. And till today, we are ‘Still’ not over how incredible this title track is. With their growing popularity following the successes of their EP’s, their incredible talents and creativity, as well as their bright and lovable personalities, the group were no doubt fan favorites as they won the “Next Artist Awards” at the Soribada Awards that same year. A very applaudable feat and recognition proving that the talented group is on the pathway to incredible success.
It seemed they were on a mission to go all out in 2020 and that was warmly received by fans and K-Pop lovers as our ears and eyes were blessed again with the release of their third EP “Growth” with the lead single ‘Work Hard’, titles that captured their journey since debut and their passion and commitment towards providing and producing excellent songs and performances for their fans. And we were not disappointed. ‘Work Hard’ is a pop song with one of the most catchy choruses.
What many would rightfully describe as a true masterpiece, the song gained the group the recognition they deserved with its trendy style, a colorful music video concept, a chill vibe, and a wonderful beat that makes you want to bop along as the song plays. The song is one of their most streamed and viewed songs with over 2 million streams on Spotify and 12 million views on YouTube. In March this year, after working so hard, the group released their first studio album titled “The Dice Is Cast” with the lead single ‘All In’. We are usually used to getting just EP’s from most idol groups these days, especially rookie idol groups, so this release resounded the fact that DKB were not just talented but extremely hardworking and ready to keep us entertained and happy with excellent songs and performances.
Excellent, that is the word we will use to describe this album especially its lead single ‘All In’. It is once again, a more laid-back pop song but still retains that vibrance and colorful styles of all the lines that still get us excited and leave us wanting more. A desire that proves that along with fans, we were ‘All In’ with DKB and we were definitely in for the ‘Rollercoaster’ ride that is about to ensue.
The album also had the incredible rap song ‘Samsung’, a song that showed just how talented their rap line is. Quite similar to BTS’ ‘Ugh’, the song is vibrant, energetic, catchy, and has so much power and charm that you feel and clearly understand the message the idols are passing along and you can’t help but cheer them on for their sheer determination.
From one incredible success to another the boy group is on a ‘Rollercoaster’ ride that keeps going up. They released their first singles album titled “Rollercoaster” a very groovy pop song that makes you dance along as you listen. The comeback proves the boys have gotten more refined and better with their performances, still delivering their remarkable melodies and rap verses, with the music video you get to see their growth not just as performers but also as an all-round musical act.
True performers, the group often releases dance covers that are always outstanding, showing off their exceptionally unique and intricate dance styles that leave viewers shocked and in awe of their talents.
The members are not just entertaining with their music and incredible choreographies, their personalities and interactions are also quite hilarious. Funny, bright, and extremely charming, their variety show appearances and interviews are such a thrill to watch. We had a chance to interview them recently and play the “Relay Balance Game” which we must say was a very fun and hilarous time. Check out both videos below.
They might still be underrated for reasons we cannot comprehend but this rookie group has the discography and the skills to be termed one of the best K-Pop groups in the future. Are you a fan yet?
